FAQs about CEREC Crowns

Our Queen Creek, AZ, dentist Dr. Matthew Roper is making it easier to get the dental crown you need without taking significant time out of your schedule. If you’ve never heard about CEREC crowns before, it’s the perfect time to learn more about this restoration and how it could benefit your smile. Here are the top questions we get asked about these high-tech restorations,

What are CEREC crowns?

CEREC stands for chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics, and this method involves designing and making a dental crown right here in our office. With traditional crowns, we had to take impressions of your mouth and then have a dental lab make your crown, but with CEREC technology we can now create your restoration right here in our office.

How long will it take to get my CEREC crowns?

Another nickname for CEREC crowns is “same day crowns” because you can get your restoration crafted and placed in just one dental visit. Since we can do everything right here in-house you don’t have to come in for multiple appointments (like you would have with traditional crowns). Since it can take up to 45 minutes to create your crown, it’s a good idea to bring a book or something with you during the downtime.

What makes CEREC crowns different from traditional crowns?

These crowns look the same and are often made from the same material, the only difference is how they are made. CEREC technology streamlines the restoration process, making it possible for our Queen Creek, AZ, dental team to make your CEREC crown right here in the office without having to turn to a dental lab. This also means that you don’t have to spend weeks wearing a temporary crown. You’ll get your new restoration the very same day with CEREC.

When are CEREC crowns used?

In just about every situation in which a ceramic crown is used, a CEREC crown can also be placed. After all, a crown is used to cover and protect a tooth that has significant damage in order to protect what’s left of the tooth’s structure, and a CEREC crown can do just this!

How long will my same-day crowns last?

We use only the highest quality ceramic to make your crown, so you never have to worry about the strength or durability of your new tooth. With the proper care, your crown can last many years and can easily be replaced when the time is right.
